Born Gillian Bridé Madell in Taree, New South Wales, Australia to newspaper owners Mr David Thomas Mills Madell and Jeanette MacDonald on the 27th of November 1973. When she was four her family moved to the town of Mareeba, Queensland; a rural area of the north, where she grew up.
As the third child of seven, she learned to amuse with words from a very young age. Raised with the newspaper industry around her, she found herself drawn to the word; writing her own brief stories and thoughts down and sharing them with her young friends.
She ran a successful business with her husband, Barry Johns, for several years, however, at the gradual loss of her eyesight, she eventually decided to go back to her true passion of writing. She has had several articles published and her first book, “Magic and Mayhem: Tree of Knowledge” was published in 2006.
She now lives in South-East Queensland with her husband, their six children and granddaughter. With much, and sudden, change in her life, she was forced into contemplation that gave her new understanding of priorities and living a good life. After a long break from the industry, she returns once more to her field of writing, she is pleased at the release of her books in the Magic and Mayhem series, “Tree of Knowledge” in January, 2016 (a re-release, re-edited of the original), followed by “The Winning Game”, "Blight in the Ocean" and "Demons and Dangers", with further books to be released in the future.
Studied and trained in ministry while having a mind for mental exploration, her philosophical poetry and such works have been published in several languages in the name of G. B. D. M. or in G. B. Duce Madell. These books and publications are works that she continually produces and is often quoted on.
Also writing as, Gillian Bridé Madell, her first book in the historical fiction/fantasy series. Titled “Nuada”, it showcases her ability to go beyond a single genre of writing. "Nuada" was released 21st August, 2018 with Dark Recesses Press.
Soon to add to her list of books is a fictional middle-reader that centres on reincarnation called, "The Lives and Karma of Jeremiah Blum and how he met his match" was released in August 2019 by Hawkwood Books, UK.
Gillian still writes articles and other works under an anonymous name which she carefully guards the actual name of in order to keep her working identities separate from one another.
